Continued from yesterday's post: "Day Two of Our Four-Day Whirlwind"
Sunday morning began in a much quieter, calmer manner than Saturday morning. We got up, had breakfast, got ready, left home at 9:15, and went to churchfor the 9:30 service. It was good, as always. We really like our Pastor! He is always so right on, and blesses us greatly everytime we hear him. On top of that, he is truly a "shephard" of his flock, and makes himself always available to us. Before the service starts, he is always walking around, stopping to chat with as many people as possible, and just making it obvious that he wants to be a part of our lives. He passes out hugs and handshakes generously, and makes each one feel special to him. Amazing!
The early service is over at 10:30. After a quick bit of socializing we headed home to finish up what we had left undone the night before. We were glad to have a couple of hours before our company would arrive for lunch and pool party. When they began to arrive at 1:15, we were just barely ready for them, but all the necessities, plus a few extra touches, had been accomplished in perfect timing!
Including us, there were 9 adults and five children. Everyone brought stuff to eat and drink, and it was plentiful and delicious! The kids all got into the pool as soon as they arrived, and stayed there all day, except for the time it took for them to eat. Adults got in a little more gradually, but eventually, all had spent time in the pool, except for two adults who didn't bring swimsuits. There was noise and fun galore! Fortunately, it was a beautiful day--just perfect for eating outside and enjoying the pool and sunshine. It was about 6:30 when the last few of them left. It was obvious that the gathering had been a total blast for everyone, so I invited them all back for the Sunday of Fourth of July weekend.
By the time we got everything cleaned up and put away, the evening was mostly gone, but the afterglow lingered till bedtime. Just before going to bed, we made our plans to go to Six Flags Over Texas the next day--Memorial Day.
To be continued--one more time
