The picture above so perfectly fits and describes my story—uphill, downhill, round and round, exciting, and scary, bright spots and dark spots. My “joyful journey” has sometimes been an amazing thrill ride and sometimes just a big downward spiral! But, the emotional, mental, and physical struggles are all part of the story, and through it all, I see clear reflections of God’s amazing grace.

Just One of Life's Little Oddities

Whew!  I made it--just in time!   I walked in, quickly closed the door behind me and slid the latch bar to the left.   Immediately, I turned my attention to the white carton and began removing a sheet of  white paper from it.  My hands trembled a bit.  I was anxious to get on with the task at hand.

Then I sensed something amiss, and whirled around to find the door swinging open . . . I thought I had locked it.  Good thing I hadn’t begun to disrobe yet!   Once the door was securely returned to its locked position, I returned to the matter of removing the piece of paper from the white carton.  Once removed, I quickly unfolded it and spread it out.   My breathing quickened a bit as I began fumbling with the fasteners on my clothing, eager to get comfortable and relax for awhile.

Whoosh!  The sound made me jump, and I spun around just in time to see the white paper swirling and disappearing right before my eyes!  I couldn’t believe it!    After all that work and wasted time, alas, it was gone!  So, I resigned myself to starting all over again, and, in my state of being half-dressed and half-undressed, I pulled out another sheet of paper from the white carton and began to work with it.  As I tugged and pulled at it in all directions, it seemed to be shredding badly.  In my attempt to separate it at the appropriate places, all the parts that needed to remain connected had become disconnected, and  before long, I realized it was so torn-up, it was useless!

By now my frustration had risen to such a level that all I could do was laugh out loud as I tried once again to open, spread out, and smooth down a third sheet of protective toilet seat covering!  So much for being in a hurry!

Ah, the fun of laughing out loud, in a public place, at life’s private oddities, and having no one to tell about it!  Oh, Jeannie, Jeannie!
