The picture above so perfectly fits and describes my story—uphill, downhill, round and round, exciting, and scary, bright spots and dark spots. My “joyful journey” has sometimes been an amazing thrill ride and sometimes just a big downward spiral! But, the emotional, mental, and physical struggles are all part of the story, and through it all, I see clear reflections of God’s amazing grace.

April Fool's Day!

Home again! We were in Montana all last week (since Saturday, March 24th), visiting with family and friends. It was wonderful! We arrived back home on Saturday evening, March 31st, to greet our son and soon-to-be new daughter-in-law Patti, who is now living with us until an apartment is found.

No, this is not an April Fool's joke! This is truly a dream come true for all of us! Jim and Patti have been friends since college days, many years ago (about 15 years or so), attending the same university and church in Long Beach, California. But, it was only about two years ago that they decided to try dating each other--long distance! Up until this weekend, Patti lived in San Diego, California, and Jim lived here in the Portland, Oregon area. So, for them, this dream has been in the making for a very long time!

It's hard to believe she's finally here, and we're so glad to finally have her with us. She starts her new job tomorrow (Monday), and will live with us for a little while. We've just finished pouring over maps to help her find her way to work tomorrow.

A new week has begun; a new month has begun; a new quarter of this year has begun; and a new adventure in life has begun. Now, I'm ready to go to bed, and get a fresh new start in the morning.

So much is happening in our lives in this new year!
Thanks, Lord, that You are in control of all of it!

I'm glad you were able to get to Montana again. You'll have to write or phone me and let me know how everyone is doing down that way.

Jim and Patti look quite happy and content in their picture. I'm really happy for them. That's great that Patti already has a job.

Yep, lots of things are happening in your brand new year. And Yep, God is still in control.

It was wonderful sharing the Young Life Banquet & then part of an afternoon with you here in Montana. I so needed our walk up the hill as a break in the super busy schedule & to ventilate about Esther coming home after only 3 weeks. The seder turned out well. PTL! I picked Esther up yesterday from the Spokane airport. She's so happy to be back here & not in Virginia.
