The picture above so perfectly fits and describes my story—uphill, downhill, round and round, exciting, and scary, bright spots and dark spots. My “joyful journey” has sometimes been an amazing thrill ride and sometimes just a big downward spiral! But, the emotional, mental, and physical struggles are all part of the story, and through it all, I see clear reflections of God’s amazing grace.

SPLAT!!!

This morning I went to an employment agency to do some testing of my office skills. What an absolute shock to my self-esteem to fall flat on my face! I was so embarressed -- no, make that mortified, to say the least! How could this happen to one so confident in her poise and abilities? Alas, it did happen--splat--flat on my face! Literally! Let me back up a sec here, and describe my preparation for this appointment.

Originally I had opted to take these tests at home where I knew I would be more relaxed, and hopefully, have the best possible test scores for my true abilities. So, yesterday, in the comfort of my own home, I took three of the five computerized tests. I did really well, and was delighted to discover that I can still type 67 words per minute! Yes! I was truly impressed with myself! Two of the tests (MS Word and Excel) would not run on my computer, so I had to make an appointment to go back into the agency office to take the tests.

This morning I smiled through my slight nervousness as I carefully got myself all up to snuff, to show that I fully fit into a top-notch professional office. When all was ready, I looked at myself in the mirror, and thought, uh-huh...lookin' good! Here I go! All ready to put my best foot forward and present myself as the best of the best!

As I drove to the agency for my appointment, I was mostly relaxed, anticipating a repeat of yesterday's successful test scores. All was well until I took my tumble -- out of my SUV, onto the parking lot payment -- FULLY SPRAWLED OUT for all to see! What a lovely--no, make that hilarious sight for anyone who happened to be watching what was going on in the parking lot. A car slowly came by. I layed there, hurting badly, watching to see if the driver would show concern for my well-being. I thought of her as, perhaps, the "good Samaritan", but, no. She ignored me lying there on the ground. I finally decided to see if I could get up, despite the fact that it felt like I might have broken bones. Yes, I could get up, and yes, I could walk, and no, there wasn't anything broken, except maybe my confidence and self-esteem!

I did fine on the tests, albeit a bit shaken. I have only minor abrasions to show for it. Oh, I found out this morning that they have already submitted my resume for an "Office Manager" position. If I get called for an interview, I certainly hope there is no repeat of this morning's performance!

I think even God was laffing at that one this morning!

Uncle Ed

P.S. Maybe you should pray for the "Scribe" who passed by you on the other side.

Wow! So glad to hear you didn't injure yourself more. Actually the Agency should have been quite impressed that you could do so well after such trama. Good job for you!!! Will pray you will get the office manager job. Sounds like something right up your alley.

That is such a funny story Jeannie!

I am so glad you did good on your scores and have had your resume submitted. That is awsome!

I got real tickled by your story, but am very glad no bones were broken.

Our world sure is getting worse day by day. So few good samaritans out there anymore.

Very sorry to hear about your splat onto the pavement from you vehicle.Yep the first thing I would have done was to quickly look in both directions to see if anyone had seen it happen. Then I would breath a deep sigh of relief if noone had seen.Although a mix of feelings would submerge if I really needed help to get up onto my feet because of getting hurt.Shame on that person for not being your good Samaritan. Our prayers that you will get to go in for the interview.

Actually it reminded me of Chuck's and my first bike hike togeather on our biking trails. It was five miles each way and that was even after I had done 2 miles on the tread mill at home.At one point I needed badly to stop so I slowed down almost to a complete stop and attempted to get off.Unfortunately to my horror my legs had no strength and would not hold me up.Splat I went onto the pavement with my large bike on top of me.Yep you guessed it,I quickly looked both ways to see if anyone had seen what had just happened.Thankfully noone had and I stayed down to feel strengh come back until I saw someone coming in the distance and it didn't matter suddenly if I had strengh or not,up I got.The greatest sight I saw on that trail ride was the car looming in the distance.I was so thankful to see that car.
