The picture above so perfectly fits and describes my story—uphill, downhill, round and round, exciting, and scary, bright spots and dark spots. My “joyful journey” has sometimes been an amazing thrill ride and sometimes just a big downward spiral! But, the emotional, mental, and physical struggles are all part of the story, and through it all, I see clear reflections of God’s amazing grace.

Soul Satisfaction

The soul finds its fullest contentment
in life’s most startling hue;
when the glorious love of Jesus
is living inside of you!

It will not be seen through cloudless skies
in various shades of blue;
nor will it be seen in grassy green,
with sparkle of morning dew.

It isn’t found in crystal clear drops
as life-giving rain pours through,
nor in the pallet of the rainbow,
though all it’s colors seem new.

It wasn’t found in gathering clouds
being whipped by winds that blew;
nor was it found in the stormy skies
when silvery lightning flew.

It wasn’t felt in the pouring rain
as the gray clouds filtered through;
nor was it felt in the dampened air,
of the misty fog it drew.

It couldn’t be seen in the sunshine,
as it’s blinding brilliance grew;
nor could it be seen in the sunset,
with it’s rosy, golden hue.

It isn’t found in fading twilight,
as twinkling stars come in view;
nor is it found in the moonlight’s glow,
giving light all the night through.

No, the soul finds small satisfaction
in things that please only you,
for the things we like change too often;
we always want something new.

But, the soul that finally finds Jesus,
finds a friend that’s tried and true;
and the soul that is filled with Jesus
finds that He makes all things new.
